Sympraxis Consulting: Microsoft 365 commercial pricing increase πŸ“ˆ

Reminder: Microsoft 365 commercial pricing will increase across all SKUs, effective July 1, 2026 πŸ“ˆ

If you are concerned about unused or underutilized licenses, the coming Microsoft 365 price increase will make your concern more expensive and shouldn’t be ignored. It’s a good time to review your licensing and usage landscape, and act. The price increase applies globally, with local market adjustments in certain regions to reflect currency and market conditions.

Review the full details in the official Microsoft article, "Microsoft 365 Pricing and Packaging Updates.” The article breaks down all the changes – including additional security, storage, and AI capabilities, includes a good set of FAQs, and highlights the new pricing and percentage increase for each suite and standalone offering.

There are several ways to help discover your licensing landscape and usage. You can review manually (M365 admin center > Billing > Licenses), use PowerShell to view licensing details and generate detailed reports, or leverage partner solutions that provide clearer views of licensing and activity.

We’d like to highlight two partner solutions that help assess your Microsoft licensing to make sense of it all:

  • ShareGate Protect: Eliminate waste spend. In their words, β€œFull visibility into permissions, sharing, and inactive workspaces β€” so you can fix what matters before AI scales it."
  • Orchestry's Enterprise plan: Licensing optimization. In their own words, β€œA clear view of every license acquired, assigned, and unassigned across your Microsoft agreements, plus which licenses are attached to inactive or disabled accounts.”

Microsoft changed the terms. Now it's your turn. Don't just absorb the increase, renegotiate it.

SharePoint Turns 25! SharePoint is turning 25 and we Sympraxians have collectively lived and breathed (and held our breath) with it for 129 years (average 18.5 years/Sympraxian). We experienced the early Tahoe / Digital Dashboard days. We celebrated the original SharePoint Portal Server / Team Services merge in 2001. Throughout the ages, we fought upgrades, mourned the sunset of InfoPath and Designer, celebrated the push to modern UX, and navigated the AI story. The journey has made us all...
